Seminar: “Conflict Prevention & Conflict Management” – Israeli Participant
Date: 27 February – 11 March, 2011, International Academy for Leadership (IAF), Gummersbach, Germany
Participant: Mr. Arik Segal
The FNF conflict management seminar held at the IAF in Gummersbach, was an enriching experience both professionally and socially.
During 12 days we thoroughly investigated the of conflict management by listening to lectures, working in groups, having joint discussions and presentations. Each of the participants contributed from his own experience to the understanding of conflicts and in the final session we used the tools we learned and proposed a conflict management strategy for one actual global conflict. In my opinion the academic part was done very professionally, refreshed my knowledge as to conflict management and gave me useful information that helps me engage conflict management in practice.
The social part of the seminar was no less important. We were 24 participants from different countries, cultures, ages and backgrounds. Since the Academy is rather isolated being placed in the outskirts of a small German town, we spent most of our free time together at the Academy’s bar and lounges. We also had to chance to enjoy a Carnival day in Cologne and a four day trip to Hamburg. Most importantly, the seminar gave me the opportunity to meet people I would have never been able to meet in my own country.
All in all, the seminar was a great experience. The people I met and content earned, motivated me to continue dealing with conflict management professionally.
